Juniors success announcement  !!                                                                  June 23

The Addison Exiles Badminton Club were pleased to announce that three members of the juniors section Dhiaan Sahota, Mary Dai and Regine Tan, were selected to participate in the London Youth Games as part of the Team Ealing Badminton Squad It was the first time Ealing had fielded a team for badminton in 20 years and are pleased to announce that the team came fourth in the London Youth Games this year

Sam Kumar had only two weeks to run the trials and select the squad, the schedule was tight.

With only two training sessions under the squad’s belt, the target was to ‘go out, play your best and make it out of the group’. And did they over deliver!

The squad were on fire through the group stages, finishing as group leaders and into the quarters with a tough encounter against a very competitive Lewisham. With solid performances in the boys singles and girls singles; it was the stand-out performance in the mixed doubles that took Team Ealing through to the semi’s and eventual fourth place.

We are a “Clubmark”-approved club (now called “Premier Club status”), so coaches are CRB checked, and we subscribe to Badminton England’s recommendations re Child Protection.

We cater for boys and girls between the ages

  • Friday 10-18 years
  • Thursdays 7-18 years

Fully-qualified Badminton England coaches are in charge of each session, which is a mixture of coaching input and games. We are committed to helping every young person at our sessions improve and reach his/her full potential. We are also committed to instilling values of sportsmanship, good behaviour, fair play and respect for partners, opponents and officials.

As well as running our own regular tournaments, we keep our players informed about suitable outside tournaments, and any other opportunities which will help them to progress and enjoy their sport, such as County training and the London Youth Games. This includes regular opportunities for our more experienced juniors to participate in our adult club sessions.

Many of our players use their badminton activity as part of their “Duke of Edinburgh” award, and some ex-members return to offer their services as assistant coaches – sometimes also for “Duke of Edinburgh” award purposes, and sometimes as part of their own Coach award training. We actively encourage ex-members to stay in touch when they go to university, and visit whenever they are able.
